Are you wrestling alone with big questions? I will support you to cultivate hope and to act on what is in your power to change. If you have let yourself down, hurt others, or been hurt by others: I can help you to examine your wounded moral compass, to discern how it points you toward your true north.
I decided to become a therapist after years of intensive caregiving for family members with cognitive decline. We can learn new ways to cope and use our suffering for good. I will share with you short-term techniques for emotional stabilization I’ve learned as a mental health practitioner. We can also partner on the deeper work of your healing. And as strange as it may sound: amidst the seriousness of it all, therapy can actually be creative and fun!
I use cognitive behavioral therapies (including CBT and ACT), Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. If you have cultural and spiritual traditions to include, we can lean into them –or not, according to your preference; I have trained in integrative health and chaplaincy at University of Michigan, clinical social work at Louisiana State University, and have a doctorate in Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies from Columbia University.
I’m also a breast cancer survivor. Whatever your life experiences, political affiliations, gender identities, or relationship structures, you are warmly welcome here.
If I am not for myself, who will be for me?
But if I am only for myself, who am I?
If not now, when?
