Hello, and welcome. I’m Todd DeHart (he/they), a Graduate Student Therapist. I’m thrilled to be joining Out of the Woods Therapy as I work to complete my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Whether our work together involves navigating uncomfortable emotions, interpersonal challenges, concerns around intimacy and pleasure, or finding your voice, I am committed to co-creating a space where you can safely embark on your healing journey. My goal is to support you as you challenge yourself to grow while practicing self-compassion.

In my counseling approach, I embrace discomfort to foster meaning, understanding, and transformation, making the intangible more tangible. Guided by curiosity, we’ll explore patterns, areas of ambivalence, or feelings of being “stuck.” While my approach is integrative, it is rooted in person-centered therapy, psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, and somatic processing. I believe that humor has a place in the therapy room, alongside reflection, grace, and resilience.

I am dedicated to supporting queer and marginalized communities, with a particular focus on sex-positive approaches that encompass kink, BDSM, and the reclamation of healthy sexuality during recovery. My passion extends to working with both individuals and those in consensual non-monogamous or poly-identified relationships. I am also deeply committed to providing compassionate care for individuals grappling with suicidality, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and supported.
